You should count on about 1 hour and 30 minutes of driving from the campsite. We therefore advise you to set your alarm and not leave too late if you want to make the most of this day.
To start this delightful day, we offer you a most unusual morning appetiser, the Visit to the Matata Caves.
Nestled on the cliffside and spread over two levels, these troglodyte caves have sheltered families since the dawn of time. From prehistory to the present day, visiting this unique location will allow you to go back in time, to understand and explore the daily lives of the humble people who lived here.
This is a fascinating dive into our past And the breathtaking view of the Gironde estuary makes this visit even more surprising.

For lunch, we have two options to propose, and I must say, I’m torn between the two...
The first alternative is on the Matata site itself, as it is the Crêperie dominates the estuary. The setting is sublime, and the panorama so exceptional that you might almost forget to mention what you'll find on your plate... Simple things, but effective...
The other alternative is located on the quays of the port of Meschers. It is the Bistrot du Port, A local establishment that is packed every day. It is therefore strongly advised to book your table. On the menu… Good cheer, a really friendly atmosphere, impeccable service, fresh and well-cooked products… And all of this for excellent value for money, in our opinion.

Digestive stroll and swim at Suzac beach…
Having regained your strength, you are now ready to continue the adventure...
Meet at the car park of Suzac beach, located a stone's throw from Meschers, in the direction of Saint Georges de Didonne.
We suggest you start the afternoon with a hike.
This will lead you onto the coastal paths. In the shade of Holm oaks and high up on the cliffs, you will overlook the estuary mouth and enjoy breathtaking views.
The other attraction of this hike concerns the remains of the Atlantic Wall.
You will encounter many log cabin, some almost intact. This will be an opportunity to leap back in time, to imagine the living conditions of these men hiding in these concrete shelters.
This will be an opportunity, without a doubt, to discuss this troubled past with children in order to maintain collective memory.
