For this rather sporty half-day in the heart of nature, we're setting off on a hike first thing in the morning. To do this, you'll first need to make your way to the town of Rioux-Martin, located 15 minutes from the campsite.

Today's essentials, don't forget
- A pair of trainers or hiking boots
- A first-aid kit with an aspivenin (no worries, it's just to «be prepared» in case... but a hike is a hike and you can never be too careful).
- A cap, a bucket hat or a beret (the style doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable).
- Some energising provisions (cereal bar, dried fruit…)
- Water, lots of water, especially if the temperatures are summery. Top physical condition (optional).
Please note: You'll find superb picnic spots along the way, so here's some advice: take the time to allow yourselves this break and to enjoy… And why not opt for a «local» style picnic, if I may say so (white or red Pineau to enjoy as an aperitif, a truffle salami, Iberian ham, and perhaps a Manslois to finish on a cheese note).

The start of this walk is from the Mairie square in Rioux-Martin. You can then head towards the village centre to reach the Route des Écossais. You will then cross the village of Écossais du Bourg. Then, at the Impasse de la Fontaine, take the dirt and grass path. Cross the charming wood that spreads out before you. In the shade of the trees, take this opportunity to soak up the coolness of the place. Venture into the green countryside and breathe in the fresh air.
Practical information
Next, take the road to the Weasel Pond, where the flora and fauna flourish. This splendid pond is accessible on foot. You can take a break there, sit nearby, and contemplate the view.
After many small paths, you will arrive at the village of «Moquet» then that of «Barriot» before returning to where you started. Away from the rest of the world, enjoy this moment of solitude to appreciate the calm of the surroundings.
Once you arrive, walk a few more metres and you'll find picnic tables on your left for your lunch.

For walking enthusiasts, the Carrière Saint-Georges is another lovely spot to visit to feast your eyes. This extraordinary natural site immerses you in the beauty of its landscapes. Between azure water and white clay canyons, observe the effect of millions of years on these landscapes. Visits are organised daily from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM from early July to the end of August.
